Configuring Shipping Options for a Product

This topic describes how to configure a product's shipping-related options, such as how to specify the weight of one unit of the product. It includes the following sub-topics:

Including a Product in a Shipping Calculation

On a particular order, the Order Entry system will only calculate the shipping charge for those products that have the Include In Shipping Calc. option selected.

Follow these steps to indicate that a product should be included in the shipping charge calculation:

1. Open a new or existing Products record.
   • For a new product, complete all necessary fields before saving the record. See Creating a Basic Products Record for more information on creating new products. 
2. Click the Inventory tab.
3. On the General sub-tab, select the Include in Shipping Calc. option. 
   
   
4. Save the Products record.

Specifying Product Weight for Shipping Calculations

If a Shipment Type uses shipment weight as a criterion for determining shipping charges, each product that may be shipped using that method should have a weight specified on its Products record. Follow these steps to specify the weight of a product in Aptify:

1. Open a new or existing Products record.
   • For a new product, complete all necessary fields before saving the record. See Creating a Basic Products Record for more information on creating new products. 
2. Click the Inventory tab.
3. On the General sub-tab, confirm that the Include in Shipping Calc. option is selected.
   • Only products that have this option selected are included in shipping calculations. See Including a Product in a Shipping Calculation. 
4. Click the Dimensions sub-tab.
5. Specify the weight of one unit of the product in the Unit Weight field.
6. Select the unit of measure for the weight you entered from the Weight Units drop-down list. The available options are Ounces, Pounds, Grams, and Kilograms.
   
   
7. Configure the other fields on the Dimensions sub-tab, if desired.
   • In the standard Aptify system, the linear dimension fields are for informational purposes and are not used to drive other system functionality. 
8. Save and close the Products record.
