2013 Innovation Awards Submissions
Winner!
Manuscript Review System
New York State Society of CPAs
The NYSSCPA distributes a monthly peer-reviewed and technical-refereed journal that utilizes a double-blind review system for all articles. In order to facilitate the review process, it developed a configuration in Aptify that allows the journal’s editorial staff to add records of each article to Aptify and link them to assigned reviewers. Using a customized messaging wizard, staff can notify reviewers of assigned manuscripts, which they can access and comment on via the website, with all data writing back to Aptify to produce ongoing status reports on the hundreds of manuscripts received each year.
Other Great Submissions:
Customized Meeting Registration Website
American Veterinary Medicine Association
AVMA developed a unique meeting registration web application using base code from the Aptify sample code. The application uses unique VIP codes, along with a survey engine portion of the app that is customized so the meeting owner can tie specific questions to the VIP Codes, thereby targeting the audience with unique questions. A lottery system allows attendees to register for a popular conference and then sign up for “limited seat” sessions, with winners billed appropriately and any remaining seats available for later purchase.
PayPal as a Payment Method
APICS
The purpose of this project was to enable APICS’ ability to accept PayPal as a payment method for web transactions. With this, customers are redirected to PayPal’s site during the checkout process in order to enter their payment details. Additionally, the scope included modification to APICS’ financial systems to interact with PayPal as needed to support web purchases with PayPal.
CGA Manitoba Employment Referral Service
CGA Manitoba
CGA Manitoba provides an Employment Referral Service (ERS), an online job board and resumes search service for employers looking for CGA Manitoba members and students. The service includes job postings, where members receive a discounted price and can tag the posting as it relates to specific CGA levels, and the resume request service displays contact information by request.
Report Packet Printer
NBCRNA
NBCRNA created a service to allow for the creation of report packets, where individual reports are printed on different colored paper, depending on the recipient. From a view in Aptify, a user can run the Report Packet Printer Wizard to choose the packet that is desired. For each record in the view, the process will print each report, in order, to the specified printer tray. The end result is a true set-it-and-forget-it print with no manual collation and no manual intervention during the print.
On-Demand Course
Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs
The overall goals for PICPA On-Demand Course project was to allow a person to purchase an on-demand course and have a uniformed experience while traversing the on-demand courseware on a variety of devices. PICPA also required everything be housed and recorded within Aptify, including course materials, interactive and final exam questions, grading results, exam passing score configurations, assignment of credits, and a course evaluation survey.
APTIFICHE
Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association
SRNA’s records management initiative is a component of its larger Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system, Laserfiche. The ECM strategy provides an approach to govern the acquisition, management, preservation and delivery of enterprise content. SRNA wanted to integrate Laserfiche and Aptify to link member/applicant documents to the person record in Aptify. The results are positive. As one SRNA representative says, “These two robust systems made easy work of our integration.”
