Filters are the rules that limit the number of records that appear within a view based on criteria defined by the user. The Aptify viewing system supports a wide range of filtering options, from the simple to the complex. This topic provides a general description of a filter statement and provides step-by-step instructions for creating different types of filters.

- You can create views that perform a proximity search to filter records based on an address's distance from a particular central location using the Proximity Search wizard. See Using the Proximity Search Wizard for details.
- You can create views that return a random set of records from a particular service (by modifying a view's Advanced SQL). See Returning a Random Set of Records for details.
