The Applications record is where applications are identified. Permissions to add and view the application and its associated services are also identified on this form.
Attachments Tab
The Attachments tab lists any files relevant to the Applications record.
Entities Tab
This tab displays the list of top-level entities in the system. Entities that have a check mark in the Selected column appear under this application in Aptify.
General Tab
Parent
This field is not supported in this release of Aptify.
Name (Required)
The Name field holds the name of the application.
Status (Required)
The application's current status (Active or Inactive). Users cannot access an inactive application.
Display Name (Required)
The Display Name is the name of the application as it appears to users in the Application dialog box and the Aptify application folder.
Display Culture String
This field localizes the display name of the Application. If blank, the Display Name is used. If populated with a Culture String, the Application uses the display name specified in that record, depending on a user's assigned culture.
Icon
This field determines the icon that appears to the left of the application in Aptify. If blank, the Aptify uses the default application icon. Note that icons are stored in the Object Repository.
Icon Large
This field specifies the icon that appears for this application in the Shortcut Bar. If blank, the Shortcut Bar displays the default application icon. Note that icons are stored in the Object Repository.
Description
The Description field is for describing the purpose of the application and also what services are included in it. This description also displays in the Application selection dialog. Note that icons are stored in the Object Repository.
Help Object
This field specifies the Object Repository location of a Microsoft CHM Help file that contains information about this application. This field is used in conjunction with Help URL to specify a particular page in an online help file that should open when a user presses F1 while this application is selected.
Help URL
This field specifies an HTML file in the Help Object that corresponds to information about this application. If a user presses F1 while this application is selected, Aptify will open the Help Object at the specified location.
Aptify has configured the Help Object and Help URL for the applications provided with the standard product, as applicable.To add online help for new applications, an organization needs to:
- Write help documentation for the application and compile it into a Microsoft HTML (CHM) file.
- Add the CHM file to the Object Repository.
- Specify the Object Repository location of the CHM file in the Help Object field.
- Specify the name of the HTML page (included within the CHM file) that contains information about the specified application.
Associated License
Specifies if this application is only applicable to users who have a particular kind of license in Aptify. Assuming that the appropriate User and Group Permissions have been set, only users who have a license to the specified module will be able to access this application. See Licensing Administration for more information on licensing. If this field is blank, then all users can access the application, depending on the User and Group Permissions. By setting this field, an organization can eliminate potential confusion that could occur if users try to access functionality that is not accessible to them without a license assignment.
Group Permissions Tab
The Group Permissions tab identifies which groups have permissions granted to view and use the application.
User Permissions Tab
The User Permissions tab identifies individual users who have permissions granted to view and use the application. This tab allows users who are not a part of a specific group to be granted access to the application without changing their user group status.
